Potluck and Program

Group photo at the Taj Mahal

In January of 2008, a delegation from the Northern Illinois Synod traveled with Bishop Gary Wollersheim and his wife Polly to India.  While there a covenant partnership with Bishop Gideon Devanesan and the Arcot Lutheran Church was established.  The synod had begun the relationship with support following the tsunami in 2004.  In 2006 an ELCA group which included NIS representatives attended the 300th anniversary of Lutheran Ministry in India.  The NIS women have given mattresses and special gifts for the tsunami orphans at Shiloh Mission Church. Special insights by participants in the 2008 trip can be found at nis2008india.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html.

Three of those trip participants will present a program including pictures of their visit.  They are John Califf – Assistant to the Bishop, Art Milton – NIS Global Mission chair, and Jeana Fors – liaison of the NIS Women’s Organization with the Women of the Arcot Lutheran Church.

All interested community members are welcome to the potluck beginning at 6:00 pm.  Please bring a dish to share.  Beverages, breads, tableware, and plates will be provided.  Call the church office (786-0503) with the number attending.

Sunday, April 27, 9:00 am Worship Service and following

Esther and Dr. John Prabhakar of Rochelle will bring their message at the Sunday morning service.  At 10:15 am they will greet the Sunday School children and lead a question and answer session with the combined adult forum and confirmation class.  The Prabhakars have family in the Arcot area and were also hosts for the delegation.  Welcome to all!  Free-will offerings will be given to our companions in India and Tanzania.
