Carl A. Christensen Carl A. Christensen, 85, of Milan, passed away Sunday July 18, 2010 at Friendship Manor, Rock Island. Funeral services will be
held 10:00 am, Friday, July 23 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral home, 201
E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm, Thursday, July
22 at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 7:00 pm. Burial
will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made
to Eureka Lodge #69 A.F. & A.M., Milan or to St. James Lutheran
Church, Rock Island. |

Carl was born on February 5, 1925 in Haverslev, Denmark, the son of Chris and Astrid Christensen. He married Leota Swanson March 2, 1956 in Rock Island. Mr. Christensen was a carpenter and cabinet maker at his business, Carl’s Cabinet Shop, Milan. He was also employed by Brandt Construction and Bohl’s Machine Shop. Carl was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Rock Island, Eureka Lodge #69 A.F. & A.M., Viking Club, Danish Brotherhood, Civil War Roundtable, the Moose Lodge and Carpenter Union Local 166, both of Rock Island. He enjoyed making needlepoint pictures. Mr. Christensen was a Veteran of the Danish Army having served in light artillery units.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Leota;
daughters and sons in law, Lisa and Michael McDonald, Ballwin,
Missouri, Linette and James Mohrmann, Chesterfield, Missouri;
grandson, Adam Mohrmann and half brother, Frank Christensen. He was
preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Christian, Clarence,
Paul; sisters, Agnes Nielsen and Helen Christensen. |
